I'm in a New York State of Mind

When Andy and I first started talking about planning the wedding of our dreams, there was one thing I was certain of - we wouldn't be going on a big, extravagant honeymoon after.

There are a few reasons for this:
1) I only get so much vacation time -opposed to Andy's bushels of vacation time.
2) I couldn't imagine using all that vacation time away from my girl.
3) (still 2??)  I've never been away from Eleanor for a week.  Right after the wedding wasn't the right time for that adventure.
4) Of course, money is always a point of conversation

So, Andy and I decided to go to Door County for a few days - just for a little R&R after a crazy party.
I put Andy in charge of planning our honeymoon.  I had enough to do with the wedding.
Except one problem.
Andy didn't want to plan a Door County honeymoon and so for my birthday I received:

And planning for our New York Adventure began!  We actually didn't plan on doing much.  And we didn't want to do anything touristy.  We had both been to NYC before and just wanted to get lost in the city.  Pretend we lived there.

Once we got there, we emersed ourselves in the city!  And suddenly, 5 days were gone!
We had just an AMAZING time.  Honestly, it's the longest Andy and I have every been alone together.  We dated with a 4 year-old.  We included her in as much as we could.  As I've said before, a marriage is between a man and a woman, yes, but we are really the start of a family.

So here's a little glimpse into our NYC adventure...and while we had a great time and already are thinking of our next solo vacation - it's a family vacation that we are looking forward to - we were pretty darn excited to get home to that little girl!

New York City - Here we come!

And we'll arrive in style!  I should have Andy plan all of our vacations!

My kind of bike ride through Central Park (I run...not bike!)

Stopping for a break at Loeb Boat House in Central Park
I've "been a part" of this event for a LONG time - SO geeked to finally see it.  Andy - and the police officer - made fun of me for taking pictures of the tents!

Typical NYC hotel room.  What you see is what you get - and it was perfect! We loved our hotel!

The 09/11 Memorial.

Tourist - Dork
NEWLYWEDS!  Aren't they cute!

NYC on 09/11.  This was SO cool to see.  Just breathtaking.

I always catch Andy playing with this ring. I guess it takes awhile to get used to!

OK, so there were a lot of "selfies" on this trip.  We didn't want to ask too many New Yorkers to take our picture!

Well!  We hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into our honeymoon!  I can't wait to share pictures of the wedding!  And some of the details for the wedding that we've been busy working on!
