Christmas 2015

Image
Christmas was wonderful - amazing - magical...but I think the entire Bach family is happy to start settling back into some type of routine! I just need to go back an highlight a few Christmas Activities - including Breakfast with Santa at the Q.  Oliver...not so impressed with Santa.  Classic! On December 20th my parents took Eleanor to The Nutcracker for her birthday.  But, I wasn't going to let them take over my childhood tradition without me!  Eleanor LOVED the Nutcracker - so much more this year then when she went 2 years ago.  She's still showing us all the dance moves she learned... We left Oliver at home with Grandma and Grandpa Bach and after the performance we grabbed some birthday drinks and desserts! Then, of course, it can't be Christmas without mentioning Eleanor's birthday!  On December 23 we went out to dinner to celebrate Eleanor's birthday.  It's birthday tradition - on your birthday you get to pick dinner...

Happy 7th Birthday, Eleanor!

I finally have a moment to myself and can finish and post Eleanor's Birthday Blog. Here I am...Once again saying, I can't believe it's my baby's birthday. 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 (oh!  bad mom didn't blog for E's 5th birthday!), 2014 And now 2015.  My baby is turning 7.  I can't believe she's turning 7 and I can't believe that I'm old enough to have a 7 year old!;-) This last year has been one of the more interesting years for me to parent Eleanor.  She is almost challenging me - forcing me - to love her completely differently than I ever have before. She's not a baby anymore and I can't love her like one or parent her like one.  And yet, there are times she just yearns to be a little kid again.  For the most part, I can completely handle this but the baby talk really drives me crazy!  Thank goodness I volunteered with Eleanor's girl scout troop the other day and learned it's pretty common for first graders. 'Twas just a few days before Christmas, and time's running out. There is so much to do, I just want to shout! There are presents to buy and presents to wrap I have food to make and a bunch of other crap! But I can't disappoint - not one of you... So sit back and enjoy: 2015 - A Year in Review! For the first time, in a long long time, I feel like I've had "A Normal Year". I wasn't navigating cancer. I wasn't learning my role as a widow. I didn't get engaged. I didn't plan a wedding. I wasn't pregnant. I didn't buy a new house - or a new car. Or start a new job. But that doesn't mean it wasn't busy!! OLIVER WALTER - 1 YEAR OLD I guess we'll start with Oliver - because if any of us had a "big year" it was this guy!  Last year at this time he was just a little blob.  This year: he's got personality! And a lot of it!  To say I'm obsessed with this little human would be an understatement. ...
