Happy Halloween - 2013
Another fabulous weekend. And you know what made it even better? It was Halloween!
I have always loved Halloween and have long since said, if Halloween meant family, the way Thanksgiving and Christmas mean family, Halloween would be the superior holiday!
Lucky for me...this Halloween DID mean family! (As, actually, most of them have turned out to mean!)
Friday night we went to my sister's and celebrated Halloween with her family and my parents. My sister and I celebrated by eating a caramel apple a piece. The kids ran around. It was fabulous.
Saturday morning I got up and ran my last "long race" of the "season". A few short hours later, I committed to running a marathon relay with a friend. I'm a sick, sick person! Oh well. Maybe, at least, I can still take a small hiatus from running in December!
Then Saturday afternoon my nephew came over and the 4 of us headed over to Boo at the Zoo. We had a great time, and being zoo members, it didn't matter that we only stayed about 1 hour. Enough for some tricks, treats, animals and a train ride! Andy and I sure enjoyed pretending we were a family of four! I think it suited our family very nicely!
Sunday afternoon my sister came to our house with the rest of her family for a new annual tradition of Trick or Treat in the NB! And what a difference a year makes! Eleanor RAN from house to house to house, sometimes dragging her nephews behind. But when she crashed, she crashed hard! She asked to go home and passed MANY houses to get to ours. She had just as much fun passing our candy, with her cousins, at the end of our driveway! I loved watching her RUN to the door every time the doorbell rang.
And by 6:30 at night, Eleanor was asking us if she could go to bed! She was beat!
I wish my mother was at my house tonight, to tell ME when I had eaten too much candy, just the way I did to Eleanor.
And now there is just one more Halloween tradition for us to fulfill...the Pumpkin shaped pizza from Papa Murphys, which we WILL consume on Thursday night. Hopefully...while watching The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (which Andy just confirmed is on ABC, Thursday night, at 7 PM)
And just like that...Halloween is coming to a close...being chased to a close by the many other holidays that are coming! Again, I say...it really is the most wonderful time of year - and it lasts 2.5 months!

| "MOM! I got 2 Pieces!!!" Is there air under both of her feet in this picture?! |
| Don't worry - Dad and I got the peanut butter candy taken care of. It's in our belly's! |
