Pumpkin Pickin' and Carvin
3.
I loved the family across from us on the hayride, because right away she offered to take our family picture. I LOVE family pictures and I LOVE family pictures on a hayride. Oliver is in the Ergo on my back...hence his positioning for this picture!
The pumpkin patch was looking a little rough...is it because it's been so warm? Did we really go late this year? Well, we managed to all find our favorite pumpkins.
When we got back to the farm, we decided we were hungry and grabbed a snack. Andy and I decided on Apple Cider donuts. Oliver got a cookie, but after eyeing up my donut, I gave it to him. Yup, he enjoyed that much more. Smart guy...it was good.
Eleanor went with the classic caramel apple - and she actually ate some of the apple too and not just the caramel!
Then we had to head home because the Packer game had already started. But we also got to carving right away.
Eleanor had insisted that this year she was going to help scoop the guts out...but after sighing and nearly crying because it "is SO gross", she took a break. Eventually she got back to some scooping and seeding picking. But it was painful...
Then I found one of those little knife carving kits in our Halloween decorations and Eleanor thought it was cool to carve her own pumpkin. She also decided this year she didn't want just a plan, boring face...she wanted a bat! So she and Andy designed a pretty cool looking bat!
So, Oliver got a little bored with our project and I was looking for ways to keep him entertained. Some how I thought, "I know what's a good idea! Banging cookie sheets with spoons." Well, Eleanor thought that was such a good idea, she gave up on pumpkin carving and instead decided to join in the noisy fun.
Heaven help us.
But all's well that ends well and we were all very proud of our creations!
And of course....I LOVE a good comparison shot! 4 years of pumpkin patch fun together!
OK...and finally, I wasn't sure if this video was going to post, but we busted Oliver dancing to UpTown Funk (And cookie sheets being drummed by ladles). I hope it posts, because it's darn cute!
That is the amount of blog posts I have started. That I am working on. And I have yet to hit the "publish" button.
So my goal for tonight is to write this post and actually get it posted.
Fall is here. The weather has sharply changed. It's cold at night. It's cold in the morning. And mother nature is in all her glory! Our trees are just beautiful right now. I could click pictures all day long!
This weekend we took our annual trip to the pumpkin farm. It's not our favorite farm, but it's nice and local and it provides a hay wagon ride to the pumpkin field - which is a must for me. Next year, when Oliver is just a little older, we will go exploring to find a new pumpkin farm. I loved the family across from us on the hayride, because right away she offered to take our family picture. I LOVE family pictures and I LOVE family pictures on a hayride.
