A camping we will go!

I am 33 weeks pregnant.
Well.  33.5.
And...I just survived a camping trip in the UP.
Was it horrible.
No.
Do I recommend that anyone goes camping at 33.5 weeks pregnant?
No.
Am I happy I went?
Yes.
Did I have a good time....well....the spending time with family was fun :)

And let's get something straight....I wasn't camping like I used to camp.  There was no tent.  There was running water (even if it smelled funny), there was electricity, there was a bed (even if I needed to take a running leap to get my swollen belly in the bed).  It's really glamping friends.
But when you don't sleep well in your own bed...then what difference would it make if you were in a king bed at the Ritz or a King bed in a trailer.

I have SO many memories of this campground.  We were here ALL the time growing up.
The campground is minutes away from where my grandparents lived in Aurora, WI and where my Aunt still lives (right across the street from the house she (and my mom) grew up in!).

When my sister and I drove "up north" for my uncle's funeral last November, we knew we HAD to get back "up north" and spend time at our childhood playground!

Do I say nothing has changed?  Or do I say it all has changed?

First of all - We didn't have golf carts when I was little!  To get to campsite to campsite - we ran.  Or wore our rollerblades!  Sometimes my cousin let me borrow his bike.

But Willie's check-in is still the same (Yes - it's owned by a man named Willie...and now...of course...Willie Jr.)  In fact, it may have been the same ice cream in the cooler!

Um?  What is THAT?  We DID NOT have accommodations like THAT when we were growing up.  I mean - that's a fully functioning kitchen...outside!

But we still camped over an open fire.  That hasn't changed! Andy learned how to master the pudgie pie iron.
And trust me...that playground hasn't changed!

I could go on and on...but I might as well just let the pictures do all the talking...because clearly, I'm having more fun reminiscing then any of you are having reading this! :)  It was a great weekend.  I'm glad we went - even if I was 33.5 weeks pregnant - and now I just plan on staying close to home for the next few weeks.
All packed and ready to go!

Gateway to the north!  This bridge always meant that we
were 1/2 way there!

Just love this carefree picture of Eleanor

Oh - just another carefree adorable picture of Eleanor.
I just love this kid!

Collin taking the plunge.  Literally.  This water was COLD.

This bridge.  Another iconic image of Rivers Bend

Love me some family photos

Cousin Jeremy and Jerin....Jerin, apparently, was less then impressed
with the boat ride and quickly fell asleep!

Of course - all boat rides end at the "Blind Duck"...
Now named the Iron Duck.

Drinking Kiddie Cocktail...and looking very suspicious!
Have I mentioned how cute I think she is?!

Getting artsy with the iconic bridge!

Oh, you know - Eleanor being cute!

Eleanor had a hard time waking up from her nap.
Of course, she turned to one of her favorite people...Collin.

Mel and I stole the golf cart for some Rivers Bend shenanigans

Eleanor's new friend "Susie".  She instantly fell in love with my mom's
cousin.  And seldom left her side.

S'MORE!

My brave, big girl...roasting marshmallows on her own.

So cute.  So pensive.  So tired.

Making our way to the....

Bridge.

Hello down there!

Proof that we made it across.

Oh look...the bridge was on fire once.  Fantastic...

It's like an album cover!

My future geologist!  She is ALWAYS collecting
rocks...

Oh more rocks...

If you are in Aurora on a Sunday night - you HAVE
to go to T&T for all you can eat
chicken and spaghetti

And on the way home...you GOTTA get cheese curds
The SQUEEKIEST!

Yup - It HAD to be a good trip.
Sorry to cut this one a little short - but sometimes Blogger just really makes me mad and doesn't do what I want it to do.  Tonight is one of those nights.  And I have SO much else to blog about - I just need to get this one done and up.  So enjoy!
