36 Weeks 4 Days

36 weeks.  4 days.
That is how pregnant I am.
The birth of this baby is, essentially, the only thing the Bach family can think of.
Washing baby clothes.
Getting the nursery perfected.
Obsessing over baby names.
Pretending what life is going to be like when the baby is here.
Going to baby classes.
Figuring out who will take Eleanor when I go into Labor.

Oh Eleanor!
If we aren't thinking about the baby.
We are preparing Eleanor for KINDERGARTEN.
Ack!  My baby is going to kindergarten!
We have meetings at least once a week - Meet and Greets with other Kindergarten parents, Forms Night, Bus Orientation, Open House.
We need to sign up for swim lessons.
Are we going to do gymnastics or soccer?
We actually have to go school supply shopping.
What should we wear for the first day of school?  What about to school pictures?

How will this all get done in the short amount of time that we have?

And through the madness and the craziness that is ensuing around us, I have one thought that can over take it all.

At this point in my last pregnancy.  On this very "date" of my last pregnancy.  When the only thing in the world that mattered was the birth of my baby.  When I was debating between wanting my baby to be born any day and wanting to keep her inside me - all to myself.  At this point in my last pregnancy my world turned upside down.

People always ask me, "How did you do it?"  And my answer is always, "If you found yourself in that, or any similar situation, you'd figure it out."  And you would.  You do.  I didn't do anything magical.  Because now...now I'm just like everyone else.  I look at that girl that was 36 weeks, 4 days pregnant and I think, "How did she do it?"  How did she not just collapse.  Give up.  Scream, shout?  Panic?!  I think about that girl all the time and I draw strength from her.  I try to be as strong and brave and courageous as she was.  But I'm just not sure I have it in me.

36 weeks, 4 days pregnant.  I feel like I'm walking on egg shells.  No shoes can drop this time.
This time.  This life.  I just want things to be "normal".   I have curtains to make.  Bed skirts to make.

One day at a time.
Just like before.
Just like now.
Just like always.
