FEED ME!
About 2 weeks ago, Oliver started eating 6 oz for each feeding.
Each feeding - plus 2 feedings at night.

Oy - the bottles! We couldn't keep up and we KNEW it was time to give the poor kid some food!
Some where along the line, I had decided that I didn't want Oliver's first food to be Rice Cereal, as it had been with Eleanor. Personally, I just don't see much difference between Rice Cereal and Formula.
I also knew that I wanted to make all of Oliver's food, just as I had with Eleanor.
So, I circled a date on the calendar and designated it as making baby food day! It also happened to be one of our greatest snow storms of the year. Like a, "I can't push my cart through the snow in the parking lot" snow storm, Kind of the perfect day for making food!
For Oliver's first foods I made 3 sweet potatoes, many many many handfuls of green beans and 3 pears. The next weekend was determined "F Day"...Feeding Day! And we decided on Sweet Potatoes.
Of course - Oliver's first feeding was a family affair...We all gathered around, warmed up some sweet potatoes and dug in! Oliver ate like a champ. Well...like a champ at his first feeding. He hasn't fully grasped the concept yet. His little tongue struggles between swallowing and pushing the food out of his mouth. But he knew it was delicious and kept wanting more. He ate his entire "ice cube" of sweet potatoes.
He can't get enough sweet potatoes and I can't get enough of him!
Sweet Potatoes on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Then Thursday for dinner...one bite of Sweet Potatoes and he spit them out. I guess I can't blame the guy...I can't handle left overs on the second night!
The following Saturday we decided to introduce his next food: Bananas! I just feel like I can't introduce a new food on the week days, because it gets so late. And he's tired and we're tired. And what if he has an allergic reaction to a food? It wouldn't be until late at night when he was sleeping...so I have to wait for the weekends! He didn't seem as impressed with bananas as he did with sweet potatoes. Totally different flavor and totally different temperature. We tried heating them up too. Still not so great.
Oliver has also decided he was done with me feeding him and he was going to take matters into his own hands. He did pretty good putting the spoon in his mouth...most of the time... And then the constipation started :-( Poor Oliver just strained and strained and just couldn't poop. A little turd. But I knew his tummy hurt and he was eating less because he had that "full" feeling. We already knew that Oliver has a pretty sensitive tummy (yay Schroeder tummy issues!) so I guess I should have known the transition to solids was going to mess with him pretty good.
So I did something against the rules! I introduced another new food right away on Sunday. I needed to do something to get him to poop - so I introduced pears! He really seemed to like the sweetness of the pears...and sure enough, that afternoon he pooped! He still strained...but it was better than bananas!
So there we are - Sweet potatoes, bananas and pears! What a variety for a little guy!
Next up - Avocado!
PS - Oliver is a great help in the kitchen! I even let him "lick the beaters", like all good cooks do!
PPS - Eleanor is still obsessed with Oliver! Oliver is still obsessed with Eleanor. These two make my heart burst! I'm still obsessed with them both!
