July 5th - Happy UnBirthday to me!

This morning we woke up.  The sun was shining and we had an entire day ahead of us.  We starting thinking about what we could/should/would do and how it would play into Oliver's nap schedule.

On Friday, we also had a day ahead of us....we figured we'd do something in the afternoon and then Oliver decided to sleep most of the afternoon.  And poor Eleanor...we kept saying, "When Oliver wakes up...when Oliver wakes up..." and I did not want to replay that same scenario.

So we decided to quickly pack up and head to the zoo!  We have a zoo pass and we don't take advantage of it nearly enough!  If we walked around for 1 hour or 3 hours, who cares!

We had an amazing morning!  We took a nice stroll around the zoo, saw some animals, tried to get Oliver to recognize some animals and even took Oliver on his first train ride.  The afternoon starting coming out fast and furious and we were all getting hot.  Of course, Oliver was the only one that couldn't really express how uncomfortable he was getting, so he just got fussy and it was time to leave.

I also called an audible and decided that we were going to celebrate my birthday today.  On first thought, I was going to keep Eleanor home from gymnastics on Tuesday so we could all celebrate my birthday together.  And then I realized that I am turning 35 and this is what happens when you are an adult and your kids start getting older.  Your birthday really turns out to be less about you and more about everyone else.  So, Tuesday will be Tuesday and I'll go to work, take Eleanor to gymnastics and put the kids to bed (not all by myself...but you get what I'm saying).

So on your birthday in the T-B house you get to pick whatever you want for dinner - you can go out or we'll make whatever you want.  I wanted a good ol' fashion cookout.  Burgers, corn on the cob, chips, YUM-O!  While we were cooking dinner, Oliver decided to play in the water...and like all good parents, we let him until he was soaked and then we let him run around the deck...naked!  He loved it and thought he was hilarious!
Then big sister came over and decided she wanted to play in the water too, so we thought we better put a diaper on Oliver!  The two of them had such a blast playing in a little tray of water!   I swear, today was the most I've really seen them interact together.  Eleanor was asking to hold Oliver and was trying to really play with him.  Listening to them just makes my heart burst with happiness!
Then dinner was ready and we staid outside to enjoy the beautiful night!  We went in, both kids had baths, we had dessert and the US Women's Soccer Team won the World Cup.
What an amazing day!!
