2020: A Year in Review

Image
Look at those Bachs.  Look at those silly, silly Bachs.  Eager and full of excitement on December 31, 2019.  Little did they know.  Little did they know what 2020 had in store for them.   A year of canceled plans, unfilled wishes, and an open, empty calendar!  Broken hearts and tears as we stopped going to school, stopped seeing family and friends, and canceled vacations.  But 2020 wasn't all doom and gloom!  It was filled with the four of us.  We made new plans, dreamed new wishes, and found plenty of ways (too many ways) to fill our calendar.  We worked at home, did school at home, and learned things we couldn't learn in the classroom.  We found creative and safe ways to see our family and friends.  Looking back...2020 was a pretty amazing year!  Not like we planned.  Not like we imagined.  But amazing all the same.   DEBBIE JAZZ - 2 Years Old I feel like I need to start with Debbie this ye...

2019: A Year in Review

It's mid-December.  Andy and I are watching our FIRST Hallmark movie of the year (probably because we finally cut the cable cord in 2019), I'm just writing the Year in Review Blog, and I just ordered my Christmas cards.  I'm feeling ready for Christmas in many ways and in so many ways I'm not even remotely prepared.  Like Andy's favorite ("favorite") Christmas song, "Christmas comes this time each year"...and yet it always comes so fast and leaves me feeling a little unprepared.  Kind of like 2019 in general...so fast...and I always felt just a little unprepared! In the past, I have started the "Year in Review Blog" with the person that has had the most change in their life.  Sometimes, I've gone in chronological order.  In either case, then it's clear who we need to start with. DEBBIE JAZZ - 1 Year Old Welcome to the family Debbie Jazz Bach! December of 2018 was rough for the Schroeder family.  Andy and I were looking, w...

2018: A Year In Review

Image
Last year I logged into the blog and didn't remember what to do. This year I logged into the blog and all of my settings and formatting had changed - or disappeared - or whatever! I guess you just can't expect something to be exactly the same as it was one year ago. And the Bach Family is no different! (See what I did there?) OLIVER WALTER - 4 Years Old Where to begin with this little man of mine?  This little heart stealer, story teller, jokester man of mine.  We are happy to report that Oliver has not met his medical deductible this year!  We went through a pretty rough patch of ear infections - including a trip to urgent care on the 4th of July - but he seems to be back on the up and up again.  We are only using one of his inhalers as needed, so hopefully we even have his asthma under control!  Last year we were very excited to suspect that he did NOT inherit the color blind gene.  This year, I am confident to tell you he DID inherit said gene...

2017: A Year In Review

I logged into the blog and I barely remembered what to do.   I guess this little blog of mine just doesn't get the attention it once did.  Maybe it's social media.  Maybe it's lack of time.  Or lack of motivation.   I miss it.  I miss writing.  But I'm not making any New Year's Resolutions this year to blog more.  You see how well that worked last year!   But I won't give up on my Year In Review Posts.   So without further ado... OLIVER WALTER BACH TERRONES - 3 Years Old You guys.  I can't even with this kid!  First of all - He tells us all the time his name is "Oliver Walter Bach Terrones".  Eleanor tries to correct him.  But this kid is stubborn as the day is long.  You can't tell him anything! Oliver continues to amaze us every single day and has probably had the year of biggest change.  I feel like we entered 2017 with a baby and are leaving 2017 with a little m...

January 2017 - Bacherrones Family Update

Image
I'm doing pretty good on my New Year's Resolutions.  I mean.  I can't really think of most of them at the time...but I think I'm trying! Anyway - one of my resolutions was to blog at least monthly.  I love going back and reading the blog...but if I don't write - I don't have anything to read.  All I have to do is write a monthly update.  12 times in one year...I can do that - right? So here we go!   January was a pretty exciting month for us - despite not seeing the sun for weeks and weeks. Despite it being winter and not having any snow!  Despite having to take down all our Christmas decorations and return our house to normal.  Despite giving up nights of drinking Baileys with Andy on the couch.  Despite starting to work out again! On January 8 we celebrate Nic's birthday (Karl's too, but he's 3 years sober, so he doesn't get a shot!). Andy does shots of tequila 2 x a year...Once in January.  We even got to further ce...
