Kitchen Remodel - Demo Day 3 and new plumbing & HVAC!

Sorry.  We've been a bit preoccupied with Brewer's fever over here!  Games 1, 2, and 3 are in the books and have caused quite the commotion!  But among all of those games, the kitchen remodel continues!

Bach Family at Game 3 watch party at Am Fam Field!

Friday night I came home to an empty house because Andy and Oliver were at Night 1 of the World Series.  First thing I did...looked in my dumpster.  I could see carpet rolls and those terrible ugly spindles! Yes - that's right.  Originally the house had not one, but TWO sets of those spindles.  How 1980s!  One set we had destroyed, but the other set we left.  Until Friday!

The terrible light wood floor is now entirely gone....leaving behind some gorgeous 1980s vinyl.  Andy commented on how nice it actually looks in the front entry.  How vintage it feels. He then asked to keep it.  I'm going to assume he was completely kidding.  Or at least hope.  It doesn't matter.  It's going.  But I do agree - it's in pretty good shape.  I never got a good picture of the living room on Friday, but that carpet is now all gone too!  My piano sits lonely in the middle of the floor, covered in a tarp.

I'm now looking at the staircase and realizing...I'm going to have to redo that too...😬But it's not in scope for the project, so I'll have to do it on my own.  Shhhh. Don't tell Andy that's making it onto my 27 for 27 list!

I actually did really bad with pictures, because I mostly took a video tour, which I'm acknowledging I STILL haven't learned how to post the videos.  Patience people.  I'll get there. But you can see that all the wood floor was torn out.  I believe this picture is capturing how janky our thermostat is now placed on one little wall.  Hmmm, I wonder where this will go long term?  I should add this to my questions...

Just more views of the missing floor.

This weekend was glorious weather, thank goodness.  So after conference swim meet and two soccer games, Andy and I were able to sit in the garage and watch Game 2.  And because we are the greatest host and hostess, we had invited friends over to watch with us!  Sometimes when you make plans, you forget about the chaos your house is in.

Since then it's been a bit of a game of "I Spy"...like can you tell what work was done in the kitchen?  Monday it was new plumbing.  Everyone oooohhh and aaaaahhh over my new pipes!

Today (Tuesday) Andy asked me if I could see what progress was made and I ran around showing him all the new outlets.  Nope...those were all the old ones.  No electrician was at our house today 😂
Instead it was actually HVAC.  They covered the old exchanges that would now be in the middle of my floor and rerouted some other heating.

So...for the most part, it seems 'unproductive' and yet still a lot of progress being made!  Can't do the last step without the steps in between!
