Oliver's Birth Story

Image
The two best "highs" in the world are: - Runner's high: The feeling you get after a great, long run - Labor high: The feeling you get right after giving birth I argue that the Labor High is the absolute best.  I LOVE a good labor story.  It's every mom's badge of honor.  Her glory story.  And here is ours.  Every detail from Oliver's birth.  Read it.  Skim it.  Whatever.  This blog post is really for my memory.  I want to write down every minute so that I never forget it!  It could possibly take you as long to read it as it took me to deliver!  It certainly took me longer to write this then it took me to deliver! Let's start with Sunday, August 24. We had an incredibly productive day: I made the curtains for baby's nursery and Eleanor's art smock for Kindergarten.  I got school supplies ready.  I was exhausted from the Brewer's game the night before and so Andy went grocery shopping for me....

36 Weeks 4 Days

36 weeks.  4 days.  That is how pregnant I am.  The birth of this baby is, essentially, the only thing the Bach family can think of. Washing baby clothes. Getting the nursery perfected. Obsessing over baby names. Pretending what life is going to be like when the baby is here. Going to baby classes.  Figuring out who will take Eleanor when I go into Labor. Oh Eleanor! If we aren't thinking about the baby. We are preparing Eleanor for KINDERGARTEN.  Ack!  My baby is going to kindergarten! We have meetings at least once a week - Meet and Greets with other Kindergarten parents, Forms Night, Bus Orientation, Open House. We need to sign up for swim lessons. Are we going to do gymnastics or soccer?  We actually have to go school supply shopping.  What should we wear for the first day of school?  What about to school pictures? How will this all get done in the short amount of time that we have?  And through the madness and ...

Bach Baby Shower #2

Image
Yesterday was our baby shower for little Baby Boy Bach! Hosted by my sisters-in-law and mother-in-law. They were able take the "Vintage Baseball" theme to the 10s!  I mean - just check out some of these details.  Instead of a guest book - our guests signed these baseballs that can now decorate Baby Bach's bedroom.   And my FAVORITE part of the shower was the adorable goody table.  I couldn't take enough pictures of every little detail!   There were Hershey kisses on all the tables with little "Baby Boy" stickers on the bottom.  Lucky for me...Eleanor thought they were great too - so every time she ate a Hershey Kiss, she put the sticker on her dress...it served as a great tracker for how many Hershey Kisses she ate...There were MANY more stickers on her dress by the end of the shower! This little details I originally over looked...but Baby Shower Games Be Gone!  Guests were encouraged to write a name s...

Baby Shower #1

Image
Tomorrow I get to celebrate the pending arrival of Baby B!  I feel so incredibly lucky and spoiled to be given another shower!  But, before I have the opportunity to brag about that shower, I thought I better post (brag) about the REAL shower #1.  My surprise shower hosted by my co-workers!  And I was indeed surprised! So...last Tuesday I had my regular 1:1 meeting with my boss.   A week or so prior, he had asked to move our meeting back and make it a lunch meeting. About 15 minutes before our meeting was to start, our Recruiter walked into my office and said she needed to update me on a few things.   When my boss arrived 15 or so minutes later, Jean (the Recruiter) tried shoo'ing him away.  She told him that we were going to be putting leftovers in the conference room (from lunch the previous day) and that he should go check on it!  I was just appalled!!  Yes, we are a small organization...but we still have an org. chart!...

A camping we will go!

Image
I am 33 weeks pregnant.  Well.  33.5. And...I just survived a camping trip in the UP. Was it horrible.  No. Do I recommend that anyone goes camping at 33.5 weeks pregnant?  No. Am I happy I went? Yes.  Did I have a good time....well....the spending time with family was fun :)   And let's get something straight....I wasn't camping like I used to camp.  There was no tent.  There was running water (even if it smelled funny), there was electricity, there was a bed (even if I needed to take a running leap to get my swollen belly in the bed).  It's really glamping friends. But when you don't sleep well in your own bed...then what difference would it make if you were in a king bed at the Ritz or a King bed in a trailer.   I have SO many memories of this campground.  We were here ALL the time growing up.  The campground is minutes away from where my grandparents lived in Aurora, WI and where my A...
